Police Forces Grants

The Police Forces Grants Scheme aims to support members of the Venetian Police Forces, seriously wounded in the course of duty, who wish to undertake or are already undertaking a university degree course.

A special thank you to these individuals in uniform who risk their life every day to protect our civil society from criminality.


ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Individuals seriously wounded in the course of duty while serving with one of the following Police Forces (Carabinieri, Polizia di Stato, Guardia di Finanza, Polizia Municipale). Awards are open to both current and past members of these Police Forces.

  2. Candidates must have been born in the Venices*. Candidates not born in North-East Italy* may still be considered - at the discretion of the Awarding Committee - only if seriously wounded in the course of duty while serving in Venetia*.

  3. Candidates must be planning to enrol or must be currently enrolled at academic institutions in the Venices*. Academic institutions in other European* countries may be considered at the discretion of the Trustees.

    (*) For the purpose of this scheme:
    1) the words "Venices", "Venetia" and "North-East Italy" are interchangeable and are taken as meaning the current italian Regions of Venezia Tridentina-Sud Tirol/Alto Adige, Venezia Euganea, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona (i.e. Venezia Orobica), and Mantua.
    2) Europe extends to the Urals and includes Israel and Turkey
    .

VALUE: - a cash allowance of up to 1,000 euros. The number of bursaries awarded each year will be at the absolute discretion of the Awarding Committee and will depend on the actual financial situation of the Fund. In order to maximize the number of beneficiaries the Committee reserves the right to make partial awards.

CLOSING DATE: - no deadline. Applications are accepted all year round.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: - the candidate will be asked to provide (1) details of her/his financial situation, (2) any other applications made, (3) medical certificates, and (4) references from current and/or past commanding officer.
In most cases the candidate will be invited to a confidential discussion with a member of the Awarding Committee before any firm decisions are taken.


The scheme is being run by the Venezie Institute's parent organization - Confederazione Veneziana.

We urgently need the support of individuals, foundations and businesses in order to increase the capital reserves of the 'Grants Fund' - for every €2,000 disbursed in grants, we need €60,000 of capital to provide the necessary income.
