Our People

Marta Kowalska is responsible for event coordination and publication of projects. She holds a Degree in Arts and Design. She is fluent in Polish and English, and speaks German and Italian at conversational level.


Giampietro Lea is the Founder and Executive Director of the Institute. Fluent in Venetian, English and Italian. For several years he served as an Officer in the italian Carabinieri police force. He holds a Degree (1st Hons) and a Master in Structural Engineering, and a Master in Business Administration (MBA). He is currently studying for a 2nd degree, (BSc Econ), at the London School of Economics (LSE).


Thomas Morton is in charge of Development. He is responsible for fundraising and liaising with collaborating think tanks and other organizations. His background is in public policy and holds a Degree in Political Science. He speaks fluent English and conversational French.


Karl Schreiber is our webmaster. He is responsible for all IT-related issues, including maintenance of the Institute's webpages. His background is in electronics and holds a Degree in Computer Science. He is fluent in German and English.


(*) For the purpose of the Institute's work, the words "Venices", "Venetia" and "Northeast Italy" are interchangeable, and are taken as meaning the historical Venices within Northern Italy - i.e. the current italian regions of Venezia Tridentina-Sud Tirol/Alto Adige, Venezia Euganea, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the current provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona (i.e Venezia Orobica), and Mantua.
