Vladimir Bukovsky

Vladimir Bukovsky, a leading member of the dissident movement of the 1960s and 1970s, was interned for more than 10 years in Soviet psychiatric hospitals and prison camps (gulags). He has written extensively on the Soviet Union and on the European Union, and has stood as candidate in the 2007 presidential elections in Russia. Since his deportation in 1976, he has been living in Cambridge (UK).
